It has been way too long since I’ve told the fine folks that read this site/get my emails about some of the super-cool, super-geeky stuff I’ve been up to.
Henchmen
So, the last Henchmen update I posted to my few but loyal BrianWyrick.com readers was way back in May, promoting the fact we were giving away a free digital preview of the book on free comic book day. A proper update is way overdue, so I am giving friends and family a quick “exclusive†update.
Henchmen had a very successful launch at Wizard World Chicago Comic Con in August of last year. It was pretty great to meet some of our KickStarter backers, and to share booth space with Dave Dorman, as well as bring the book to some new fans. We continue to offer the digital copy of the first issue for free from HenchmenComic.com and we would love it if you continue to send you friends that way if they’d like to get a copy.
Ryan, Jamison, and I are well into the second Henchmen story. We took a bit of a break over the holidays and dropped a three-part Henchmen holiday strip that was a lot of fun as well. Recently our submission of Henchmen to Diamond Comics was accepted, and our KickStarter-backed first issue will be available for retailers everywhere to order from the March issue of Previews, with the next five issues following this summer.
Please be sure to follow Henchmen on Facebook and Twitter, and sign up for email updates if you haven’t already.
We promise to be awesome.
Heroes WantedÂ
I’m pretty excited to be working on a board game this year – after launching Henchmen, I began talking with some old friends about a table top card and strategy game they were developing with a super hero theme. Our worlds began to collide, and we will be launching a new KickStarter campaign in a few weeks for Heroes Wanted. It’s a great game with an amazing concept and it’s just plain fun to play.
It’s been really interesting to learn about the board game industry and work on a larger scale manufacturing project. The designers and team behind the game have been working on this for well over a year, play testing at GenCon, Board Game Geek Con, and at countless meet ups, and it is truly a finalized, awesome game. We just wrapped up our first round of video shoots for the KickStarter project, and they also look amazing.
I’ll be updating again soon with videos and details – expect to see some familiar characters here and there!
The project launches soon – be sure to like Heroes Wanted and Action Phase Games on Facebook, sign up for email updates, and follow Action Phase on Twitter.
Until we meet again, internet.
