Well, the “Day of the Doctor†snuck up on me last week. It’s quite incredible that a show fifty years old is still going so strong. I have only recently started watching, despite my father showing it to me during David Tennant’s tenure and telling me I should. If I had a T.A.R.D.I.S. I’d try to fix that.
Earlier this year I decided it was time and hit the Netflix queue. Much to my surprise I was met by this random guy in a leather jacket, and not the pin strip suit wearing guy. I had no idea what I was watching, but I kept on, and fell in love.
I don’t know why no one else believes this, but having just finished the Tennant run, I still hold solid that Chris Eccleston was an absolutely fantastic doctor. I loved that first season, I still do, and I get why people love the tenth doctor, but I often pine for the ninth. I searched through some old emails and found one from Warren Ellis’s Bad Signal talking about how great he was, so I feel somewhat vindicated. I have friends who have skipped that season, and they are fools.
So now, I find myself really wanting to watch Day of The Doctor, but holding steady until I can catch up with the rest of the world. If you haven’t watched Doctor Who, please rectify that and enjoy this guy, and please – no spoilers.
This is my first post in a while, mostly because I have been spending time watching awesome shows, playing music, making games and comics, and working with awesome people, but fifty years of Doctor Who is worth writing something up to say “Happy Anniversary†and “Thanks, BBC.”
Who is your favorite Doctor?
