Earlier this year (2009) my friends at A2 and I decided to collaborate on a video podcast. This is the the first of the 3 pilot episodes.

Earlier in 2009, my friends Annie and Andy from A2 Industries had the great idea to start work on a video podcast. We decided to call it RockitBomb.TV, as I was tiring of playing around with audio podcasting, and had always wanted to collaborate on a video project.

We shot three pilot episodes, the first of which was an interview with Tim Barry, formerly of Avail. We got to sit down with Tim for an interview, the folks at NationalUnderground.org were kind enough to lend us some archival footage, and we got footage of Tim performing two great songs at Local’s Only in Indianapolis.

Special thanks to Those Young Lions, NationalUnderground.org, and A2 for working with me on this project, the “as final as it is going to get” cut is below for your viewing pleasure:

Another fun project to back - the new Winter Sounds record!

I swear I wrote this post the other day, but it the internets apparently ate it.

The Winter Sounds are incredible. Imagine for a minute that you are Robert Smith, only born in 1979 and living in Athens Georgia. You start a band and it comes out as the Winter Sounds.

The band is getting ready to record a new record and I sincerely recommend that you get involved. If you plegde 30 dollars you will get the record, a shirt, and your face on the cover. Awesome.

If my rambling opinion isn’t enough to get you to drop some coin, take a listen to some of the tracks below. These are some of my personal favorites from The Winter Sounds most recent release, “Church of the Haunted South.” This is one my best of 2009, hands down.

A quick post about all of the awesome that was this weekend. Check it out for a video of Today The Moon Tomorrow The Sun from The Indieana Handicraft Exchange.

This weekend was a blast. My son went to Grandma and Grandpa’s for the weekend, while Jen and had a busy weekend full of the fun work.

The video above is of Today The Moon Tomorrow The Sun playing at The Indieana Handicraft Exchange. TTMTTS is an insanely great band from Atlanta Georgia, playing at an insanely great event that Amanda and Neal Taflinger helm. Thin Fevers was fortunate enough to get to share a bill with them later that night at Local’s Only to an unfortunately small crowd. However, those in attendance left with melted eye-balls à la Raiders of the Lost Ark – if you ever have a chance to see this band, do.

Day two of the Handicraft Exchange was equally as fun – EleanorMac did very well, and while Jen was selling, I was busy buying from Mike Altman, Clinton Reno, and some other vendors.

All in all, a great weekend.

Last Friday marked the first of the outdoor concert series at White River Gardens’ here in Indianapolis. It was launched with a big rocking monster of a show that brought parents and teens from all over out into the rain.

Ben and Brian braved the weather to observe and report, and a new episode of the RockitBomb Ride Home Show was produced. Give it a listen!

This week we have Kyle Knight, otherwise known as the Emotron on the show. We also have three brand new, never before heard songs from his upcoming record, “Vampire Lunch Lady Tits”. After touring in 2008 to Alaska with Mose Giganticus, The Emotron has just (and I mean just) finished this new record, due out this summer.

Known for all sorts of shenanigans on stage and off – The Emotron also delivers some great synth pop that is definitely for fans of Atom and His Package. Check out the show for yourself!

On this week’s episode I talk with Jeremy McKinnon of Florida’s A Day To Remember. For those not familiar, these guys writes quite possibly some of the catchiest hardcore songs I have heard in quite some time. Their new record “Homesick” is out on Victory Records (hence the 30 second samples) and is quite a finger pointer. A bit of a stretch from the usual guests, I couldn’t help but indulge my inner hardcore kid for one show.

This week we have Chris V. on the show from New York’s Beasts of Eden, an awesome rock quartet that brings to mind No Knife*, The Beatles, and general awesomeness. On the show we have three tracks from their 2007 EP and some great conversation about influences and their trip last year to Cabo with a bunch of playboy bunnies.

Keep an eye out for a new record from them this year, and thanks to Kellie for the introduction.

*I seem to be developing a habit of comparing bands to No Knife on the show.

This week's episode features last week's payphone call with Marc Rimmer Azeda Booth, a great synth band from Canada. Enjoy!

Azeda Booth was kind enough to call into the show from Austin last week before they hit South by Southwest. Azeda Booth just released an EP called “TubTrek” that you can download for free, and will be working a new record and touring all summer.

The interview was a little choppy, as Marc was calling from a pay phone, but I think I was able to adjust enough so he can be understood.

From the band’s website:

“There are no women in Azeda Booth. If you’re reading this before you’ve played their debut album In Flesh Tones, you’re probably puzzled. Press play and come back. The band shares the same sublime androgynously-voiced space as Antony and the Johnstons, jazz great Little Jimmy Scott and Philly-soul angels the Stylistics. Musically, there are only sightlines, no touchstones. They twist and flutter, too skittish for space rock, too hot for IDM, too concise and charming for glitch-core. The Calgary, Alberta five-piece conjure up the sound of human travel. The arrivals and departures are hazy and blurred, the tone both tense and delicate, the fuel potent and clean, the direction most definitely UP. In Flesh Tones, Azeda Booth’s debut full length is a benchmark album, a thing of dazzling beauty and fragile inspiration. It’s not so much a bomb in the mineshaft as it is an incandescent dove illuminating the way out.” Read more

Also, check out the video that is mentioned in the interview, this song is absolutely great.
